Course Description:

This course covers basic footwork fundamentals and principles necessary for defensive pistol craft. Much like a martial art, there is some critical conditioning that needs to take place to ensure you surviving a confrontation.

Most instructors agree that one of the most important, common sense tactics in defensive pistol craft is movement. You can't move properly if you haven't practiced proper footwork. Much like in martial arts or many sports, footwork is one of the first concepts taught. How important is this in defensive shooting? We believe it is so important, it's the first concept we cover.

Our defensive classes are not traditional. Traditionally, in defensive handgun classes, you stand on a line with 20 other shooters, wait for the command, then draw and shoot drills. Movement is typically saved until advanced classes because of range safety. Common sense says that's backwards. If moving your feet and getting out of the way is the single most important tactic, why are we waiting so long to train to that end?
